Glencliff High School
Class of 1966
40th Reunion
Well, the 40th reunion of the Glencliff High School Class of 1966 is now history. And what a history it was!
There were over eighty (80) members of the class at the reunion which, as was pointed out to me (History majors traditionally have a hard time with math) accounted for over a third of the class. At this distance that is pretty darn good! Total there were over 120 people in attendance.
We started arriving at 3:00 PM on Friday and quite a few were still at the Inn when I left at 9:00 AM Sunday morning. The hospitality suite, except for the time we met for dinner (and some of us slept), was almost continually occupied with people.
Janis (Young) Waller celebrated her birthday at the reunion (you do the math; I’m a history major).
Don Rust won the award for traveling the greatest distance (San Diego, CA) to come to the reunion. If there had been a prize for second place, Brenda Bigelow (Colorado) would have run off with that.
Lin and Lea Rutherford took a group photo and are making a memory book of the reunion for us. If you were unable to make the reunion and would like one, contact them via email or call 615-399-0769 (Lin, group photo) or 615-371-0800 (Lea, memory book). Just be sure to mention that you are inquiring about the Glencliff class of '66 40th reunion, as they do a lot of these!
Remember The Nashville Shawdows? Well, we did. Bailey Gipson brought a CD of a Shadow's session, and Rick Bernhardt even found a Shadow's website here.

I know that I must be forgetting someone because the reunion was a success because of a large number of people working on it. But the biggest reason for its success was everyone who showed up and had a great time!
Marvin (Mac) McDonald wrote the attached thoughts and permitted us to share them with everyone.
Comments from the Peanut Gallery:
I had a wonderful time, as I know everyone did! The location was absolutely wonderful, and the hospitality room, and activities all helped to make it a great success. I was so happy to be there, and see such a great turnout. I do hope we can all try to get in touch with those who did not come and try to get them to come to future picnics, reunions, etc. Marie (Pruitt) Goad
The reunion was fabulous. What really made it great was holding it at Montgomery Bell. It didn't seem to be such a "drive by" if you know what I mean. It was also a lot safer for all of us who stayed overnight. (Nobody should ever attempt to drive a mechanized vehicle after the mass quantities of alcohol some of us consumed.)
Can we improve it? I suppose so. We have five years to come up with some ideas and I would love to help with the next reunion.  Danny Martin
The reunion was a lot of fun. I thought everything ran very smoothly. It was great seeing everyone.  Dottie (Dennis) Webb
Thanks for all the hard work to make this a special reunion. I think it was the best ever.   Bailey Gipson
Hey guys. Just wanted to say that I thought everything was wonderful - from the location to the food to the music to the memorabilia - EVERYTHING!  Dyane (Wilson) Martin
I heard from family and others that we are
nearly the only GHS class actually doing good reunions and such. Much of that is due to the website and generally keeping up with people!
Thank you too for Janis' birthday cake--she was thrilled.  Ed Waller
