2010 Picnic

We plan to have a picnic on 8 May 2010. Everyone is invited; bring the whole family (children, grandchildren, whatever). It is, of course, casual. No fees or pre-registration required. It is BYOFB ("Bring Your Own Food and Beverages"); we’ll put everything on the picnic table in potluck fashion. You might want to bring a chair or two (depending upon how much you’ve spread out since the graduation) if you want to sit down, or bring a pickup with a sturdy tailgate.

The picnic will be at Two Rivers Park shelter #4, which is (conveniently) located on Two Rivers Parkway. We've had all of the picnics there, and it seems like a great place for this sort of thing. Besides the usual park things like swings and such, it has a swimming pool and wave pool. And, yes, there are restrooms.

We are planning a golf outing. Sandy Strohl has volunteered to spearhead it. Sandy will be making arrangements with the Two Rivers Golf Course for tee times so contact her as soon as possible so that she can put you on the list!

How do you get there? Glad you asked. Here's an aerial view map (it says area #3, but we're really across the road at area #4). Go down Briley Parkway from the Southlake junction (near the high school, remember?) past Lebanon Road to the Two Rivers Parkway exit. If you get to Opry Mills or, worse, the Opryland Hotel, you’ve gone too far (unless you’re coming from the Gallatin Road area, in which case you’re about a mile short - but that’s another story). The park is on the right; bear to the left after you enter. Then bear left just past the swings and such; shelter #4 is at the end of the road on the right. Some of us will be there around 11:00 AM to start setting up; we will try to have the '66 class banner up (if Tommy or I remember to bring it - you all know how memory is at this time in life!). We’ll start eating around Noon or whenever the golfers straggle in..
